What is the average length of deployment for Air National Guard?

My husband's Air National Guard recruiter said that they are generally only deployed for 60 days and that it is only on a "volunteer" basis. But the recruiter from Army National Guard said that he should be aware that he could be sent out every two months several times a year over the next 8 years. I've been told you can't believe everything recruiters tell you, because they will pretty much tell you what you want to hear. So I would like to hear from someone who is actually in the Air Guard what their experience has been.
My husband is 34, never been in the military, currently a mechanic and wants to go into electronics of some sort, like a helicopter or aviation mechanic. He loves the idea of serving his community AND country and wants to feel like he is doing something instead of just sitting on his butt enjoying his freedom. We have 2 kids and one on the way. Trying to decide what military branch to join and how soon as I am due in november.
I've also been told that if he is active duty (such as in basic or field training) than our insurance would cover the majority of our medical costs when the baby is born. This is a big deal as we are still paying for our second born son who is now 18months old. I just would be bummed that he wouldn't be there when the baby is born. We are thinking it might be worth it though. Any thoughts on this as well?
My husband also wants to further what little education he has too. We are tired of being in
a river of debt as well. Hoping some of the bonuses and better insurance, and better paying jobs will help us out.

An AEF deployment is usually 4 months, however you can be deployed up to a year.

If he is on active duty for 30 or more days (basic training, tech school, etc.), he and his dependents will be covered under Tricare insurance.
