Overview
The Navy takes care of its Sailors. When you join, you will receive an impressive array of benefits designed to keep you healthy, comfortable and secure. And the best part is that all of these benefits are above and beyond your Navy pay and allowances.

Among the most important benefits are those for your health. As a Sailor, you receive:
Full medical coverage and care in Navy or civilian facilities
Full dental coverage and care from Navy professionals
Your other benefits upon joining the Navy include:
Discounted travel
30 days paid vacation each year
Generous educational benefits
$250,000 life insurance policy for $16 a month or a $400,000 life insurance policy for $26 a month
Generous retirement income plus 401k-like Thrift Savings Plan
Opportunities to earn advanced degrees at Navy expense
FOOD
How’s the food in the Navy?

The modern Navy recognizes the needs of an active, healthy force, and provides a range of options, including salad bars, fast food and full-balanced meals. Many Navy culinary specialists are graduates of the Culinary Institute of America or other prestigious schools.

the navy isn't for everyone

pro's you get free health insurance, job security, get to see the world, free education

cons if you are stationed on a ship you spend at least 6 months a year out to sea when you go on a 6 month cruise, not very good pay when you first start out

For him the pro's will be seeing the world, getting training he can really use in the real world. A Navy career is hard work. But there are perks.
You'll treasure it when you do get to see him, but you won't see a lot of him. He might get stationed in South Korea or Japan.
It might be lonely for you, so you should stay busy while he is away.
