Pushups (Air Force BMT)?

I'm an out of shape guy who is shipping out to Air Force basic in 5 weeks. I've never had any upper body strength. I just started working out this week (big mistake but I can't change the past).

Currently...
Pushups: 25 (required 45)
1.5 Mile run: 15 minutes (required 11:52)

I know these numbers are terrible for a guy my age, and I know I have a long way to go. The question is, working out hard three days a week, am a screwed to be recycled again and again until they kick me out... or do I have a shot if I give it my all?

Most helpful would be hearing about the experiences of anyone who went to basic in bad shape, or anyone who managed to go from bad shape to good shape fairly quickly.
