Are USAF women required to wear the uniform to Military Balls or is "appropriate

civilian attire" authorized? I've looked inside the USAF Dress and Appearance Regs and found no solid answer to this question. I've been to several Military Ball functions in my time always to find women in the Military Mess Dress or Service Dress/Semi-formal combo, as appropriate during the formal portion of the evening. I'm looking for the standard USAF regs to support this as a requirement versus it merely being a part of the tradition. Thanks in advance.
