kdog3355 has a spectacular aura about
ranks in the air force question.?

I'm going into the air force as an e-2 I was told because I was an eagle scout, I was also told that in 20 weeks if I join for 6 years, I would be e-3, cause i am starting at e-2 will that make me an e-4 in 20 weeks?

and i heard that moving up the ranks in the AF is slow, what could i resonably expect to be within say 2, 4, and 6 years. how long does it take to get promoted generally? or should i jus texpect to be e-3 forever

My husband joined the 6-year "accelerated" program. I think that you will just jump to an E-3 in 20 weeks, because E-2 and E-1 aren't as big of a difference as an E-2 and an E-3. In about a year and a half, you will most likely put on Senior Airman (E-4) and then a while after you put on SrA, you can test for SSGT (E-5) However, if you pass the first time (I hear it's HARD) you will get a sew-on number, which could be another year-2 years away. I would definitely check with your recruiter though to make sure. They should know the details. Good Luck!!!
