Officer Rank Promotion Air Force?

Without war, how can you get promotions as an officer? What would you have to do to get promoted?

You come in as a 2 LT. You have to have a bachelors degree. It is pretty automatic to 1 LT. You would have to be a pretty big screw up not to get that promotion. You would probably get kicked out at the same time..

Promotion to Captain is a 97% certainty. You get promoted for doing a good job, taking the military courses for your grade, getting further education and a bit of ass kissing.

TO get to the general ranks, being an Air Force Academy graduate really helps. Over half of the Generals are grads. (Being one of the good old boys helps also.)
