Asthma in the Air Force?

I was wondering what my chances of getting into the AF would be. I was diagnosed with asthma right around my 13th birthday...it might have been a bit before, or after. I never had any severe attacks, it would just get slightly uncomfortable for me. I only remember ever using an inhaler twice, and now I don't even have one. I haven't carried one in quite a long time and I would say that I haven't had asthma for years now. I'm in great physical condition and have played basketball, lacrosse, and done track. I want to be a nurse in the Air Force which isn't even a combat job. What are my odds, I don't want to take no for an answer and I'm positive I could pass training without an attack.

Asthma after your 13th birthday is disqualifying. This includes reactive airway disease, exercise-induced bronchospasms and asthmatic bronchitis.
The source below is the medical standard for this condition.

The Air Force goes by the same guidelines as the Army. Look up AR 40-501... If you can get a waiver, then well,.. you should be able to do so.

Good Luck!
