Any way to cure cat allergies?

I will be moving in with my girlfriend in the up coming months and she has a cat.. I am alleric to cat to the point where it feels like my throwt is closing up and I has a hard time breathing. I don't want to make her give up her cat but I know I wont be albe to handle the allergies. What can I do?

Hi, in short...you can't I am an RN and have allergies to cats to. Allergies generally get worse over time. It sounds like your allergy to the cat is already quite bad; if your throat tightens and you have breathing difficulties etc you could go into Anaphylaxis shock... which is life threatening. You guys are gonna have to find a way around it, either she gives up the cat or you don't live together...and the dude above has an interesting point!

you can't cure it...........but allergy shots are helpful because they help your body build up a tolerance to the cat dander by injecting you with a serum that contains the allergen in small doses. I am allergic to cats also, and I used to get shots once a week. you have to take the shots for 3-5 years for them to be effective, and they do help with the severity of the allergic reaction.

im the same way very bad to cats and dogs..theres not alot u can do except get allergy shots..
