Can a 22 year old suddenly develop outdoor allergies?

I have never had allergies to anything. Last year, I fertilized my lawn and my eyes were red/itchy/watery for 3 weeks after. I had no other symptoms. (My mom is very allergic to fertilizer and said that I must be too) Well, I woke up this morning with a sinus headache, itchy eyes, itchy throat, itchy nose, congestion, and i have been sneezing like CRAZY? Could this be allergies? If so, what is the best way to minimize my symptoms? I took Benedryl Sinus headache and Allergy but it did not seem to help. I live in Michigan, where it just became spring-like this week, (mid 60s).

Yes, They can, Allergies can devolp anytime during ones life, some people for example as a kid were NEVER allergic to poison Ivy and then all of a sudden there kid or friend had it and they got it. I used to have mild allergies, last year I picked up new ones and they got so bad that now I have to take an allergy medication, perscribed by me doctor. One pill a day. Go to your doctor and talk to him/her see what they say.

Yes you can develop allergies as an adult. Overexposure to a substance can create a sensitivity, also changes in metabolism, exposure to disease, or changes in diet can trigger sensitivities.

I never had hay fever in the first 26 years of my life until I went camping in amongst the flowering blackberries. I've had a pollen allergy ever since.

There are many conditions that present themselves at certain ages, somewhere between 20 and 26 when we stop growing up and start growing old.
