people who are allergic to pollen, (generally it's a certain kind of pollen- such as pine or ragweed) have allergic reactions when that kind of flower is producing pollen.

People can be allergic to other things such as nuts, bee stings, or chicken and when pollen is in the air it doesn't do anything to their allergies.
