My boyfriend has allergies and hes told not to be around animals?

Me and my children want a small house dog so bad but my boyfriend isn't suppsoed to be around cats or dogs.
He's been taking the shots to avoid having problems but the Doc. said regardless try to stay as far away from animals as you can. So i asked the Doc. if we could get a hairless animal and he said no. It's not the hair but the danriff that hes allergic to. Please help
