Klfar79 has a spectacular aura about
baby acne or milk allergy?

my 9wk old baby boy has always been very windy so at 3wks I switched his milk to Cow and Gate Comfort. He has been a bit better on it but still has days where he is very unsettled.

He seems to be possetting an awful lot after his feed and even a while later when lying down seems to be sicky but not normal baby sick - its just like cloudy water.

His weight gain is fine

He has a rash on the sides of his face like raised red spots that seem to of got a bit worse today and all I can find on the internet sounds like it could either be baby acne, an allergy to milk or excema.

Has anyone had the same symptoms??

Think Im going to take him to the docs in the morn - Was considering changing his milk again as he is still unsettled and in a lot of pain when he needs a poo.
its not the same as the milk spots he had across his nose and forehead for a few wks after he was born it is red and dry and raised with no whiteheads. The C&G comfort is supposed to be easier to digest and contains less lactose
I would NEVER give my baby cows milk to drink until they are 1year old - Im not sure where that missunderstanding came from - I am talking about cow and gate formula.

the spots are most likely "milk spots" this does not mean its an allergy or anything they are normal for a lot of babies to get them, they are like little red spots or pimples.
If he is being sick a lot a change of brand of milk might help.
Im not sure what the c&g comfort is based on but if he is struggling to poo properly it sounds like the milk might be too strong.

I would take him along to see your health visitor or doctor before chaning his milk and ask his/her advice.

If you come along to http://midnightmums.2ksite.com/index.php we are all mums here, its a forum that we have just started, there is a lot of usefull advice from other mums or just even to chat.

Good luck with your little one and i hope he is better soon

Baby acne will look like it has a little head on the bumps after a day or so. An allergy is more like a rash. But a thin layer of aquaphor lotion on the bumps, it will get rid of them if it's baby acne. Thats what our pediatrician had us use.

Never give a baby Cow's Milk! Not until he or she is a year old! Your baby will have lots of stomache pain! Please keep your baby on Formula or Breast Milk for the 1st year of life!
And to answer your other question, Yes I think your baby may have a milk allergy. And your baby is definately Constipated. My doctor recommended to me for my daughter, to use Brown Sugar & Water in the baby bottle. All natural laxative for babies! Please Try It! Your baby will feel very releived.

yeah i think your right im taking him to the doctors!
my 9 week old was diagnosed with a cows milk protein intolerence cause the had blood in her diarrheoa, she was on Nutramigen milk for a few months but she grew out of the allergy by 6 months! so even if it is an allergy (which i dont think it is) your baby will grow out of it! but yeah have the doctor check him out! and no dont change his milk again as this will upset his tummy and make him constipated!
all the best xx

By the way a cows milk protein intolerence is about the protein in the formula milk incase people were thinking i gave my 9 week old cows milk!
