Can you have a milk allergy and be lactose intolerant?

Just wondering if you can have both? My mom and brother are lactose intolerant and my son just got diagnosed with several allergies, one being milk. Just wondering if my son could also be lactose intolerant or if all is stomach pain symptoms are just from his allergy.
