Is there a way to coat my ring if I seem to be experiencing an allergy to the metal?

The ring has created some sort of rash....I believe it is nickel and would like to coat the ring somehow. Any ideas?

I've heard that putting a coat of clear nail polish on it is supposed to help... I had the same problem!
