| I have an allergy to some pork, but not bacon or ham?
About an hour after eating pork in Australia I get severe stomach pains, diarrhoea and nausea. . We spend more than half the year outside of Australia and I have no problem eating pork in Europe, Asia, S America, Southern Africa and UK, which I do a couple of times a week. I never eat pork in N and Central America, so dont know if I would get the same reaction there. Although we have no proof, we think that it is probably caused by some chemical possibly a hormone that is administered to the animals while they are being reared. It is possible that it is imported pork rather than pork that is grown in Australia that causes the problem. Maybe the curing process for bacon and ham leaches or deactivates the chemical. I have met 3 other women who have the same reaction as myself. It started when I was in my forties, prior to that I had no problems. Was it because my sensitivity to hormones was changing or was this when the factor causing the problem started to be used in pig rearing
