| Suddenly developed allergy? How did this happen???
Yesterday I had this horrible food allergy and my face got all warm and swollen for 15 minutes (I had benedryl allergy medicine right when I felt like my face was swelling). I ate dried persimmon and curry rice before the allergic reaction. I've never had dried persimmon before so that might'be triggered it. But is it possible the curry rice (with SHRIMP) might'be triggered the reaction? I've eaten shrimp before and never been allergic to it but is it possible that now suddenly I've developed allergy to shrimp?

u can develope a food allergy at absolutley anytime. In this case it could of been all three foods or just one of them. I knew someone who ate shrimp all the time(despite it having a lot of cholesterol) and one day she had a bite and she was allergic and that was it for shrimp for her. Avoid those foods, maybe in a whiiileee u can try it gaian to see for certain but that could be risky. If u really want to know soem allergy p;aces give these lil shots in the arm and its to find out wat u r allergic to.

Well, that could have been just about anything that you ate. You don't have to have a history of reactions to a certain food to develop an allergy. You'll want to talk to your doctor pronto, because the next time you encounter the allergen you may go into anaphylactic shock, which can kill you if you're not prepared. He or she will do one or more tests that will determine what exactly you reacted to. You'll also want to think about anything you ate in the hours before the persimmons and rice-- a reaction isn't necessarily immediate. The important thing is to have a doctor do the tests.

they put all kinds of perservatives in the foods now days there is no telling what it could of been. but it can make your face feel warm, throat feel tight, breathing becomes restricted, tongue can swell. eyes can swell and you think you're gonna die, and then it passes and you never experience that again.......... or you do. allergies can come on at any age and any time...

It is very POSSIBLE to have an allergic reaction out of nowhere to things that you weren't allergic to before. Also, I have certain allergies that I call "combination" allergies... I cannot have any type of alcohol anywhere in consumption with corn or tomatoes. If I do I will break out in warm hives on my face, wrists, ankles, asthma attack, and sometimes if it was really bad- esophageal spasms. It is so weird cause it happened out of nowhere and the only way I did pin point the problem was through trial and error- not fun, but at least now I know. You could be experiencing a combination allergy or maybe one that just started- but either way you are going to have to attempt to do the same process of eating the same thing again and seeing what happens- its really the only way. It sounds to me that the food you ate for the first time is probably the culprit... who knows what else could be in it, ya know? Call your Dr. and get allergy tested just in case. (my mom cant have strawberries or shrimp together either) Good luck!!! |
