Would you put your child on allergy meds in such an early age? He has a running nose, have sneezes since this spring. I took him to his pediatrition. He recommended me to take him to a allergist, I have been to one, what they did to me wasn't very pleasant, I want to avoid that for my son. Also I'm afraid once they start him on allergy medication, he's going to have to use it for the rest of his life. It's a very scary thought. Am I doing the right thing as a parent? He doesn't have hay fever or asthma.

I hate to break it to you, but if he has allergies, chances are he's going to have them for the rest of his life. My seasonal allergies started when I was about three, but I didn't take medication for them until I was 12. I still have them to this day, and I still take medicine to control them. I really wish I had gotten on medication at a younger age. Sniffling, sneezing, and getting headaches when you're little really puts a damper in typical outdoor play. Please, from someone who had to suffer through it, put him on the medication.

If it allows him to be comfortable and his allergies are severe enough to interfere with every day life, then yes I would have my child see an allergist and take medication when needed. Some people just have awful allergies that need medication to control. My scary thought would be my child being constantly uncomfortable with a runny nose and sneezing without any relief.
