momof2boys has a spectacular aura about
food allergy testing for 10 year old?

We just finished getting my son tested for food allergies, using the ELISA IgG test (a comprehensive blood test). Does anyone have any info that can help me with the test results? My son had 2 level 3 allergies (the highest level) with oat and brewers yeast, and two level 2 allergies (peanut and soybean) and then a BUNCH of level ones. My allergist told me to eliminate all the foods that came up at any level, as well as any foods that he isn't technically allergic to, but feed the yeast. The kid will basically be able to eat only foods that I have never heard of. Has anyone else gone through the testing, and what did you do with the results? Did you do the total elimination diet, or just go for the big guns? I'm worried because since he is only 10 (and note, he doesn't feel sick at all), if he doesn't notice he if feeling significantly better, he is just going to be in absolute misery. Please help!

Yes I have been thru this with my Daughter. I stay away from the big guns first and then if she is still having problems hit some of the lower ones til I find what works and what doesn't. Sometimes they will outgrow some of them.

My daughter is highly allergic to Walnuts and hazelnuts, and cashews so basically they tell me to stay away from all nuts since they are processed in plants that have mixed nuts. I did however find a certain brand of peanut butter she can have.

With other things I find that she can have it in moderation and other things only once in a blue moon without having too many problems.

The trick is to not go crazy. Find those things that reallt bother him and eliminate them and maybe introduce them at a much later time to see if he can handle them in smaller doses.

It is hit and miss. I kept a journal at the begining which really helped.
