| Egg and tree nut allergies...? I am an aide in a pre-school classroom and one of our students has egg and tree nut allergies. The children all take turns bringing in snacks, and he brings his own from home in case he can't eat the snack. He always seems like he feels a bit left out. Every so often the teachers provide snack, and I am looking for any fun, unique, child-friendly snacks containing NO TREE NUTS OR EGGS. Preferably a hands-on snack the children can help prepare. Any and all ideas are much appreciated. Thank you for your time, you are helping a child feel included with his classmates! |

| My youngest is allergic to eggs, peanuts, tree nuts (pecans etc), milk, wheat, yeast, garlic, onion, tomatoes ... He always has to pack his own stuff. Fruit is always a delicious and healthy choice. Melon, strawberries, grapes (variety)... Keep on look out for grapes that are called FIZZY GRAPES. They are usually found in the fresh fruit section and come in individual containers. The grapes are actually fizzy. He loves them and his friends think they are cool. Kids also love popcorn balls. Candied apples. He doesn't feel left out when it comes to food because he understands that to eat foods that he is allergic to can kill him and so he would rather not have them. He often says to me that he feels sorry for the teachers because he can tell they feel bad about not including him but he truly doesn't mind. |
