Puppy eyes were swollen and red? allergies?

Last night my puppy's eyes all of a sudden got swollen on top and bottom and were pretty red, so I immediately took her to the emergency animal hospital, the vet told me its an allergic reaction, and they gave her some benadryl and another shot, the swelling has went down but still not fully, and her eyes still seem to be bothering her since shes been rubbing her paws against them, i am just really curious to what she could be allergic to, could it be a treat? something outside? spring allergies? did anyone have a similar situation? please help, thank you

My dog was allergic to his food so the vet told me to change it to fish dog food. He was a very special dog, he was allergic to almost everything, excitement made him itchy and gave him bumps and made his skin red mosltly around his snout or muzzle. Sometimes fleas cause allergies too.

it could be anything from her food to dust... if its that severe you could have your vet do a panel to tell u exactly wats causing the reaction

yes my dog did the same when it was outside and it had just been raining. Although dogs can have many allergies just like humans. I suggest a little inspection on their bodies and in your home to prevent other allergic reactions.

It could be a reaction to just about anything. Our dog does have a way of spending too much time running around near our property line, and ends up with swollen lips and eyes at least 2 times a summer. When she manages to do that, we just give her some childrens Benadryl.

If it continues too much longer, you may want to make an apointment with your normal vet to see if they can do testing to figure out what is causing it. But make sure to take the dog in sooner if it really seams to be bugging it or looks like it's getting wrose.

Hope this helps,
best of luck

Believe it or not. My dog was allergic to grass when she was young. Gave her eyedrops everyday. She is well and healthy now.
