That will help with congestion (the heat loosens the mucus) but it won't actually treat the allergies. Either get an air purifier, or get rid of the cat. She may want to consider getting the cat groomed as well, to remove excess hair. Call your doctor about trying another allergy med, there's no reason to suffer like that!

I'm sorry to say but you will probably have to get rid of the cat. I am allergic to cats and my throat would swell up and it's actually dangerous to let this go on. You can be on benadryl and antihistamines but this probably will not take away the symptoms. For your nose - put vaseline on it - that's what my son always did when he had to blow his nose too much.

I'm allergic to cats too along with everything else. Did you take Claritin D or just the regular Clairtin? I have found that Clairtin D works really well. Allegra and Veramyst nasal spray are good prescription medications to take. The only way to feel 100% better will be to get rid of the cat. I would try the hot rag because it will help ease your congestion. I hope you get to feeling better soon. : )
