Question about breastfeeding and milk protein allergy in infants...?

For moms who are dealing with this... how far do you go on cutting out milk from your diet? Do you still eat breads and such that have small traces of milk products in the ingredients? Do you switch to vegan baked good, or will that small amount of powdered dry milk in cakes and such be okay? What about things like mashed potatoes? This is a staple in my family, and you need some source of liquid, be it butter or milk or whatever... Where do you draw the line?

I don't want to hurt my baby and I would give up any foods for her, but I need to know if trace amounts are okay. Does heating/baking the milk help it at all?
