Is it possible for humans to get skin allergies from dogs? I recently adopted a maltese who scratches non-stop due to skin allergies. Lately, I have began to get serious itching like him and it gets worse at night. I noticed that I get each bout of skin itch everytime after I carry him. Sometimes I will wake up with a new bout of itch when he scratches himself in the morning. My itch will last for a week or more. My rashes are quite bad and it spreads to different parts of my legs, thighs and arms. Is it possible that I am allergic to my dog? I have brought my dog to the vet and he says that my dog does not have fleas or mites. My dog is on Frontline too.

The dog has skin allergies because something is coming through the skin that is irritating it. Whatever the dog is scratching off has every chance to come into contact with you and also irritate your skin. Try switching the dog over to a species appropriate raw diet. It will work wonders. Check out this website for an example: http://www.thewholedog.org/feedingsarf.html

i don't think it'd be from the dog, but maybe what the dog brings in the house like if it rolls in the grass it'll have dust, & pollun in it's hair then that gets on a person & if they're allergic to pollun, & dust they may break out, etc.
