Giving away two cats due to allergies, how can I deal with sadness?

I've had them for a little over a year. I tell myself that animals "live in the moment", they are not sentimental like humans are, so that helps me feel better sometimes. Also they will probably some family/lonely person feel lots better. We are giving them to operationKindness, that also makes me feel better. How else can I deal with sadness? It will take time to recover, and my family is probably going to the UK for a while, so thinking of that also helps me..

I can't imagine how bad you must feel. On the positive side, you have done the best for them. You can get a contact number so that you can be reassured that they have settled with the new familly. The old adage ' time is a great healer' is true, you will never forget them but the pain will ease. You have a new life to think about if you are coming to the UK so it will keep you busy. Better to do this now than find the wrong home when you had to leave the country. Try not to worry too much, your cats will give give lots of love to someone who wants them.

Ask for some information so you can contact the new family. Get an e-mail address, a phone number, anything, so you can check whenever you want to to see how your cats are doing. It will probably help you feel better if you know that you can find out what's happening to them.

Remember nobody took them away and put them down. There is a good home and they will understand.
