You might choose food allergy as a topic because :

1. You suffer from allergies or you know someone who does.

2. You may be interested in allergies and be researching them.

3. You may choose this subject because its on a list and you don't like the other topics.

4. You may choose this topic because you work in the food industry and want to make sure your food is safe.

This is your essay so you need to get a grip on it. There are as many reasons for choosing to write about food allergies as there are people in this world.
