justarandomgirl has a spectacular aura about
What contact lenses should I wear if I seem to have developed an allergy...

...to other ones? After wearing soft contact lenses without any major issues for five years, I was confused when my eyes became red and irritated one day. I went to my opthamologist and he thought it was simply conjunctivitis or something of the sort, and when it had cleared up, he put me back in my lenses. The reaction came immediately back and the symptoms were still the same. When it cleared up again, he put me in a different brand of lenses, but this did not help. It was been one year since my eyes first became irritated, and every time I wear my contacts, the reaction comes right back again. I have been to a specialist who thinks I am simply allergic to the lenses, and maybe a particular chemical in them (silicone?). What should I do? Are there lenses made without silicone or for people who have other issues? PLEASE HELP!
