Could this rash be an allergy to antibiotics?

I am a healthy 25 year old. I have been on 875 mg. of Ammoxicilin for 7 days now with no problems for a sinus infection.

I woke up today with a rash on the tops of my thighs...red bumps. They did not itch. By the time I was finished getting ready for work they were on my stomach. By the time I finished work they were on my calves, arms, stomach, and lower back, and butt. They also started to itch REALLy bad.

I called my Doc in the morning when I first noticed and she is going to see me tomorrow morning.

I am not having trouble breathing or anything, I am just uncomfortable. I shouldnt go to the ER should I?

Could I have an allergic reaction to the antibiotics 1 week later?

I didnt eat anything wierd, take any drugs, change anything...this is totally random.

Skin rashes are a common side effect of many antibiotics. Your MD may put you on a different kind of antibiotic. I wouldn't worry too much about it. If however you should began to have difficulty breathing go to the ER! ANY time you have difficulty breathing, no matter what you should go to the ER. Respiratory problems are not common with antibiotics.

I have taken amoxicillin a few days ago and days later I've been burning I never felt this way until I started the amox. You may be allergic to that medicine.

As stated before, go to an ED or call 911 if you start having Resp. Distress. You could try OTC Benadryl for the itching. You could also try some Aveeno Oatmeal Bath soak. The oatmeal in it is wonderful for helping to relieve topical itching. If helped me ALOT when i had the chicken pox in my mid 20's. Good luck and keep in mind that you can become allergic to ANYTHING at ANY time in your life, regardless if you have taken it before without any problems!!

I'd wait to hear back from the dr to see what he/she says. Also you can call your pharmacy. I do that all the time when I have questions about meds.

I was once having a bad reaction to a combo of meds some new dr gave me. The pharmacy was shocked I given that much and that combo of meds. But they told me it was a reaction and it should take 24hrs till I feel better.

Also I am allergic to ammox & I had a rash when I too it. It felt like ants crawling under my skin.
