| Allergy teratment ideas? I am very sensitive to even OTC drugs, trouble feeling my mouth, and thus talking (a big part of my job), on any kind of medication. Many drugs put me to sleep. Claritin works very strongly, but makes me feel weird, too awake. I tried the children's, but that seems to have no affect. I'm allergic to pollen (mainly irises) and large amounts of dust (at work; I'm fine at home), and apparantly now cherry blossom trees. I don't generally like to take drugs, and don't unless it's required to allow me to work. I only call in sick when I lose my voice, or when I'm very depressed (about one or two days a year). I prefer home remedies, like spicy soups, galons of jiuce, etc., which hs always been very effective, when I feel sniffles or a sore throat coming on. My main symptom is a very itchy nose when breathing in near certain plants, leading to sometimes violent sneezing and cold-like symptoms. Please share anything that has worked for you. "non-drowsy" has no meaning to my system... I still get dizzy and numb. Also, most drugs only work on me a couple of times before I develop a tolerance, even though I often still get the sleepy/drowsy side effects. Only Alleve has been continually effective for a few years now. I had my first, very strong, allergies last spring, about this time, mostly around flowers. It's not as strong this year, which is why I don't want to take something as strong as Claritin even though it probably won't be as strong the second time around. I'm interested in natural treatments, but don't know what they are. There seem to be various roots, most of which are unfamiliar to me. I'm looking for something I can easily find in a grocery store. For example, drinking tons of extra apple juice and chicken broth when I have a sore throat or stomach ache will make it go away a lot faster. Spicy asian soups when I feel something really big coming on. Like that, please. |
