We moved... ...and have grass, is this allergies She is 3 years old and I'm not sure if this is something I can treat at home or if there is anything over the counter. Her eye is not pink or infected, the fur is just gone and it looks like there is a white ring around her eye. Please help. |

| The other answers were on track to recommend testing for demodectic mange. It's a simple test that the vet can do in the office just by scraping off some skin cells and looking under a microscope. It's treatable and not contagious. But if your dog does have demodex, at 3 yrs old she is old for it. This means that she could have some underlying disease causing her to be susceptible to the demodex. Sometimes immune diseases or underactive thyroid can predispose them to demodex. So if she does test positive, make sure your vet recommends further testing to make sure she's otherwise healthy. Rottweilers are also very prone to dry eyes (keratoconjunctivitis sicca) which means they don't produce enough tears. Usually there's a red eye or some other clue but there is also a simple tear test called a schirmer tear test that the vet can do in the office to make sure that is not the problem here. This is also treatable, one of those chronic managed conditions. Good luck! |

| Actually sounds like some kind of skin infection. Could be demodex mange, scabies, or a yeast infection. Take her to the vet and they will do a skin scrape and check for mange and a skin cytology to check for yeast. Whatever it is, it is most likely treatable. However, it doesnt sound like allergies, her eyes would be red and irritated. |
