Allergies in 5 month old?

My 5 month old daughter has been rubbing her eyes a lot the last couple of days and under her eyes is purple. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced a child with allergies or could it be related to the fact that she got her 4 month shots yesterday?

My pediatrician informed me that infants do not actually get allergies (with the exception of food allergies) until they are older. Rubbing eyes is actually a sign of tiredness and the purple under her eyes could be another sign that she is tired or getting a cold.

If she has any fluid, pus, redness in or around her eye, or swelling around eye, then this could be a sign of an eye infection. Blocked tear ducts are very common at this age, but your daughter would most likely have some tearing and drainage coming from her eyes. Pink eye would cause redness in and around the eye. Another eye infection called cellulitis would cause swelling around the eye. Most likely since your daughter is affected in both eyes, she is either very tired or getting a cold.

seasonal allergies would not appear until after she is a year old. they have to be exposed to everything first... something like that.
