I have allergies since I moved to texas ,I'm getting sick of it, Will it ever

go away ? I been having allergies since I came to Texas. I see the weather is pretty hot down here. and a lot of pollen and grass allergens running around . On top of being allergic to these outside allergens I am also allergic to good old dust !

I rarely had allergies to pollen in New york . But over here in houston , all someone has to do is open the kitchen door to the backyard and if I am sitting 10 - 20 feet away from the door , my nose starts to run and my eyes become itchy. That's another thing - my eyes becoming itchy . It's so bad that I have to rub it every second and it's killing my eyes I think as days passes by .

I ran away from new york because of my abusive family . Currently I live with my uncle . So i can't really command them to close the doors or demand them to buy me any medicine , plus my mom never really helped me with any medicinal advices . But anyway - What should I do ?

I am looking for a job and this allergy is coming in the way of everything . Pleasee Help
I been taking some Claritin , but I am not sure if I keep taking them , because of side effects these medicines have . I don't know if it's practical to take claritin every day for a straight 1-month period ?I can't help but think it will have badd side effects

Texas is just like that. I only have allergies here, too. And, Claritin is one of those meds that you have to take daily...and it doesn't really start being affective until you've taken it for about 2 weeks. Claritin doesn't usually have alot of side effects. I find Zyrtec more effective but that's me. It sounds like you don't have insurance and your family can't help right now. Do you go to school? Perhaps the school nurse can help. Or, you could look into a free or public clinic; sometimes the county hospitals run one, and in Houston there is sure to be more than one public/free clinic. If you are getting a job, do they offer health insurance? It'd be worth it to take it. If not, keep trying the Claritin or another over the counter med that works for you - just remember, you do have to take them regularly and for a few weeks before they kick in. I also find Sudafed effective, and it is relatively inexpensive and doesn't make you sleepy. The more effective Sudafed is the one you have to ask the pharmcist for and sign for it, but you don't need a prescription and it is cheap. Eventually it does get better here...once everything quits blooming, fall/winter is better. Hope you feel better soon!

i am going to reccomend you get some locally made honey. it will contain the local pollen that is bothering you & belevie it or not will help your body get used to it.

on taking calritn, its ok as long as you dont take more than one pill a day. my doc said it was ok to take more, then i was getting heart palpitations(side affect). also SAM'S club has the generic form (loritidine) at a much cheeper cost 13$ for 300 pils.if the loritidine wears off try another antihistimine.when i went down to 1 pill a day the heart palpitations stoped.

good luck!
