Anthropology?

Recently I came across anthropology while searching for majors. What I've read makes it seem very interesting, but I would like to know more. What kinds of careers can come from anthropology? And what about the salary? Also, what colleges would be good if I want to study it? And basically any information on anthropology would be appreciated!

I have an anthro undergraduate degree and you can look forward to:

-teaching college, if you stick with it and get a doctorate, or
-teaching secondary school. I'd recommend minoring in biology and get certified to teach science - many more job openings, or
-work for a museum, and the ever popular,
-drive a cab.

I went back to school and became a MBA/CPA.

On the plus side, anthro is fun; I can not think of a thing I would rather study. But, other than a few worldwide superstars, don't expect to make a lot of money.

As a college student I would recommend that you hold off deciding your major until you've taken a few classes and discovered what you like.

I would of course recommend taking an Anthropology class or two. It is my major, though I'm still not sure what subfield or what career I want to do with it

I loved cultural anthro and medical anthro (kind of like a sub-sub field).

Some books to read that may get you interested:

The Women of Deh Koh by Christine Ebber

you dont have too many options with an anthropology major. maybe archeologist and teaching. thats all i can think you can really do with it. Anthropolgy is basically the holistic study of humankind. I took an anthropology course of withcract magic and religion, though it was interesting i dont think i would like it as a major. consider taking an anthropology course before you make it your major.

good luck to you.
