Here are some culture group names which will lead you to a thoughtful essay:

Lowland Maya (or just Maya)
Lacandon Maya
Aztec
Tlazcalans
Olmec
Seri

I recommend that you look into archaeological and linguistic data on two or three of these groups, coupled with what is known about their history and ecology/environment. Some interesting combinations would be

Lacandon Maya vs Seri or Aztec (relatively easy)
Aztec or Tlazcalans vs Seri
Maya vs Aztec or Seri
Olmec vs Maya (very difficult but would be interesting)
