| Army reserves to Army active duty and mos change?
Hey I was wonderin has anyone done this? and if so is it a hard lengthy process? I talked to my recruiter today and she told me that when I get to AIT to give her a call and she would submit the paperwork and that it was an easy process. She also said I could change my MOS to infantry. Other posts on here and on military.com say that I would have to get the ok for release from the battalion commander and that its not a guarantee even for that and the chances of changing your mos is slim even if you did transfer to active duty. Can anyone give me any info about this please.

You can change your MOS easily, but slots can be filled up I believe. Changing from reserve to active and vice versa is also very simple. Generally, they just check your weight and height again assuming you took the physical already.

I'm doing it right now, and yes, you need to be released from your current unit. It is not an easy process if your unit doesn't want to let you go. If you get it done BEFORE AIT, you'll have an easier time switching MOS. I am going 11b as well, well, either 11b or 13F. So get your 368-4187 signed or it ain't happening. You'll have to give your unit a sob story too. Don't lie though, they're going to check into it as much as possible. |
