Thumbs up Wounded Troops Desperately Need Your Help

We were recently awarded the coveted Best in America seal. This seal of
excellence is awarded to members of Independent Charities of America and
Local Independent Charities of America that have, upon rigorous
independent review, been able to certify, document, and demonstrate on
an annual basis that they meet the highest standards of public
accountability, program effectiveness, and cost effectiveness.

Will you be a "Christmas Angel" for our severely wounded troops and
their families in crisis.

Dear friend,

My name is Jorge DeLeon. I lost my right leg when my Humvee rolled over
a land mine in Afghanistan.

Now I'm working with the nonprofit, nonpartisan Coalition to Salute
America's Heroes to help other wounded troops and their families put
their shattered lives back together.

I'm hoping you'll be so moved by what I'm about to share with you that
you'll make a generous donation to help our wounded troops.

As you can imagine, Christmas can be a difficult time for the servicemen
and women who have been severely wounded or disabled in Iraq or
Afghanistan.
Many wives have had to give up their jobs to become caregivers to their
disabled husbands. So they are now living on his modest military salary
or disability check alone with a lot of expenses they didn’t
have a year or two ago.

Which means there is never enough money for basic living expenses, such
as gasoline, groceries, utility bills, and clothes for their children.

And that's why the Coalition created PROJECT CHRISTMAS ANGEL:
We're counting on you to be a "Christmas Angel" by sending a donation to
a military family in crisis.

As winter approaches, many of these wounded troops and their families
face getting their heat, electricity and water shut off because they've
fallen behind on their bills.

Others could even lose their cars or homes, and some can't even afford
groceries, gasoline or diapers.
So far the Coalition's emergency assistance program has distributed more
than $3 million in aid to 4,422 severely wounded troops around the USA.

But the number of troops who need help will only expand during the
Christmas Season and the winter months, and that's why it's so important
to send a donation today.

On average each family in crisis needs at least $750 to "keep the wolf
from the door," so please make a generous contribution to PROJECT
CHRISTMAS ANGEL.

One servicewoman who received an emergency grant last Christmas, Kristi
P., said the money "meant a lot to me and brought tears of Thanksgiving
to my eyes. It came at the Christmas holiday, just as I was recovering
from a period of unemployment -- and was very much needed. It felt like
God was smiling on me and reminding me that what I gave did matter."

Another wounded serviceman wrote: "I am forever grateful to you and your
organization for helping a fallen soldier like me get back on his
feet. Your organization helped me pay for my mortgage when no other
would!"

During the 2007 Christmas Season the Coalition wants to help several
hundred more financially strapped military families, maybe even some
living near you, but we can't do it without your support.

We have a brief window of opportunity. Would you please consider helping
us provide for these brave men and women and their families this
Christmas?

We estimate we're going to need $675,000 to rush an emergency grant to
all the wounded troops who need it.

A tax-deductible gift of $50 to PROJECT CHRISTMAS ANGEL could buy a
week's worth of groceries for a GI like me who's lost his legs to a
roadside bomb.

A donation of $100 could keep the heat or hot water on for another month
for a servicewoman who’s been blinded or paralyzed in
Afghanistan.

A $250 contribution could help pay for a mother to travel to visit her
wounded son in the hospital so he won’t be alone on Christmas
morning, or allow a hospitalized GI to meet his newborn son or daughter
for the first time.

If you are blessed with the ability to give $500, $1,000 or more, please
do. Your tax-deductible donation will fill the gap for those who
would like to give more but simply can't.

What is most important is that you give something to PROJECT CHRISTMAS
ANGEL right away.

Our wounded veterans have given all they have to protect us. Now
it’s our turn to give what we have to help them.
Serving those who served,
Jorge DeLeon,
U.S. Army (Ret.)
