Special Forces?

I will be starting college this fall, but after college I plan to join the military. I feel that I would be well suited for special forces, and thusly I am looking in to the SF of each respective branch. I’ve talked to some recruiters and looked around the internet a bit, but I only seem to find opinions and propaganda. Could one of ya’ll post some links or refer me to some website where I can look at the facts? Preferably I would like an in depth examination of each group, but one would be just fine. Anything remotely objective would be nice

Thanks

If you think or feel you are truly capable and humble look into the Marine Corp Force Recon. They train and are every bit as qualified as the Navy Seals. You must be in the top ten percent of the Marine recruits and must be willing to sacrifice a great deal of time and effort.

You are right to look into them all but do not get in over your head. They are all very brave, courageous and patriotic young women and men.

I am the father of a former force recon Marine who served four years in force recon ( 2 1/2 years as a combat martial arts instructor). Currently he is an Army Reserve Drill Sargent.

Best of luck to you as you pursue this. America needs many more fine men and women like yourself who are willing to serve for this great nation. Currently the heavy load of protecting this nation is the burden of far too few!

I would say go for the Air Force Special Tactics like Pararescue or Combat Control. There is also Combat Weather for the Air Force also. If you ever change your mind but still want something similar to special operations, the AF has TACP and SERE (not spec ops though).

They're just as qualified as SEALs, Rangers, and Recon. In some cases, it might be even advantageous. Because if you do combat control you're essentially an air traffic controller; if you do pararescue, you're like a EMT/paramedic and half way to you're associates degree in medicine. Both jobs will help get jobs in the civilian world.

Combat Weather is basically weather operations but you have to be working as a weather person to even be qualified.

Good Luck!
