HR 333 Needs About 300 More Cosponsors
HR 333 Needs About 300 More Cosponsors HR 333 - Disabled Veterans Termination ActBenefits Still Denied As of April 20, 2008, HR 333 has but 78 cosponsors. That is a gain of 11 in the past 42 days. Please send the following message to your Senators and Representatives - I strongly urge you to cosponsor and support inclusion of HR 333, the Disabled Veterans Tax Termination Act, introduced by Representative Jim Marshall, as part of the 2009 National Defense Authorization Act. The previous National Defense Authorization Acts (NDAA) of 2006, 2007, 2008, did not address, much less correct, the following issues -- -375,000 military retirees with less than 50% disability denied CRDP (Concurrent Retirement Disability Pay, 10 US Code 1414) -188,000 Chapter 61 medical disability retirees with less than 20 years denied CRDP. The 2008 NDAA did extend CRSC (Combat Related Special Compensation) to a yet to be determined number of Chapter 61 retirees (possibly as many as 40,000) with less than 20 years of service. HR 333 would accomplish the following left uncorrected by the 2008 NDAA -
a. HR 333 would extend the benefits of CRDP to some 375,000 retired career veterans who are rated less than 50% disabled by the VA. b. HR 333 would repeal the 10 year phase in of CRDP for those 180,000 retired career veterans who are rated 50 to 90 percent disabled. While other relevant bills in the Senate and House would correct either deficiency, none of those bills would correct both deficiencies.
Again, please cosponsor and support HR 333.
Please confer with your leadership and your colleagues and urge relevant portions of HR 333 to be included in the 2009 National Defense Authorization Act.
Please advise me of your intentions. |
