Some rotc questions.? 1) Is ROTC a type of school or a program in school or something all together different? What is rotc. 2)If I went to college and got a 2 year degree while going to rotc. When I enlist can I / will I be O-1. 3)Is there obligation to enlist after ROTC. (I plan on joining 20 years regardless but what all does that have on outcome)

1. It is both depending on the school. Take the University of Texas for example. It has an ROTC program, but overall, it is not a military school. Then you take something like VMI, West Point, or the Citadel. Those are schools where ROTC is the school. 2. You need at least a 4 year degree to be an O-1 unless you go to a junior military academy like the New Mexico Military Institute (have heard bad things about that one though). You would get your associates here, get your commission as a second lieutenant, but would have to go to a 4 year university and finish getting your degree or you would lose your commission. And when you do ROTC, it is not considered enlisting, but commissioning. 3. And yes. If you do ROTC, you must go into the Army afterwards. If you do not take an ROTC scholarship, then your obligation will be for 3 years active duty or 8 years reserves/guard.

1) ROTC is a program at a 4yrs university. 2) you have to have at least a B.A or B.S(a 4 yr degree). when you contract with ROTC you'll be an E-5, then when you graduate and are active duty you'll become an O-1. 3) in the air force officers are obligated to serve a min of 4yrs.
