WASHINGTON (April 25, 2008) - Retiree Appreciation Days are now scheduled at
more than 40 major Army installations through the summer and fall to provide
health screenings and offer retired Soldiers and their Families information
about benefits.
The potential audience for RADs includes more than a million retired
Soldiers, spouses, and survivors of retired Soldiers worldwide. Those
Soldiers collectively represent thousands of years of service in the U.S.
Army.
"RADs are great events for great people," said John Radke, chief of Army
retirement services. "I've attended RADs worldwide as a guest speaker and
found a wealth of information and services at every one. I urge retired
Soldiers, spouses, and survivors to make it a priority to attend a RAD."
Attendees at a RAD will find out about the latest information on health
care, retired pay, changes to the Survivor Benefit Plan laws, veterans
benefits, Social Security, military legal aid, and the continuing connection
between retired Soldiers and the Army. RADs may also include health tests
such as blood pressure screening and vision screening; special events such
as a dinner or golf tournament; and include representatives from such
organizations as the Veteran's Administration.
The following RADs are being held in 2008, though the list is not yet
complete. Retiree Services Offices continue to schedule RADs during the
year. If your installation isn't listed, visit the Army Retirement Services
homepage at
