300 Cosponsors Needed for HR 333 - Disabled Veterans Tax Termination Act Support HR 333 - Disabled Veterans Tax Termination ActTake Action! HR 333 Remains the Best for Restoration of Concurrent Receipt In view of the recently enacted 2008 National Defense Authorization Act, HR 333, the Disabled Veterans Tax Termination Act, remains the only viable bill that would correct inequities remaining under both CRDP (Concurrent Retirement Disability Pay, 10 US Code 1414) and CRSC (Combat Related Special Compensation, 10 US Code 1413a). Other bills such as HR 89 (Combat Related Special Compensation Act), HR 303 (Retired Pay Restoration Act) and HR 1436 (Retired Pay Restoration Act) were partially accommodated by the 2008 NDAA or remain incomplete in comparison to HR 333. a. HR 333 would extend the benefits of CRDP to some 375,000 retired career veterans who are rated less than 50% disabled by the VA. -HR 89 makes no similar provision -HR 303 and HR 1436 would do the same. -2008 NDAA does not accommodate CRDP. b. HR 333 would repeal the 10 year phase in of CRDP for those 180,000 retired career veterans who are rated 50 to 90 percent disabled. -HR 89, HR 303 and HR 1436 make no similar provision. -2008 NDAA does not accommodate CRDP. c. HR 333 would extend the benefits of CRDP at 100% to those 28,000 retired career veterans who are rated less than 100% but who are considered "individually unemployable" (IU) and compensated at 100% by the VA. -HR 89 and HR 303 make no similar provision -HR 1436 would do the same. -2008 NDAA accommodates only CRSC, not CRDP. d. HR 333 would extend the benefits of CRDP to 183,000 career veterans who were involuntarily retired under Chapter 61 with less than 20 years of retirement service for medical disability to include wounds received in combat. -HR 89 would extend CRSC, but not CRDP, to Chapter 61 based on 2.5%/year of service. -HR 303 and HR 1436 would extend CRDP to Chapter 61 based on 2.5%/year of service. -2008 NDAA accommodates only CRSC, not CRDP, based on 2.5%/year of service. e. HR 333 would extend the benefits of CRSC to those untold number of Chapter 61 involuntarily retired with less than 20 years whose disabilities are considered to be combat related. -HR 89, HR 303, HR 1436 make no similar provision. -2008 NDAA accommodates CRSC based on 2.5%/year of service. Conclusion: HR 333 remains the best legislation for the restoration of concurrent receipt. Please send a message to your Representative on this issue.
