Why does the government allow illegals to join the military but not allow

The military reports that the citizenship status of over 16,000 active duty members is “unknown” – meaning they are illegal. That’s one in 100. I have to believe that the recruiters knew their status was unknown when they signed them up. How is this any different from a manufacturing plant in Texas hiring illegal aliens? Are they good enough to fight our wars but not good enough to bottle our beer?

Of course companies hire illegals. But they are not allowed to by law. I'm asking why the military is allowed but Tyson isn't.

Actually it is a path to citizenship and they are not illegals. I served with many from not just Mexico, but Ecuador, Guatemala, Panama, Nicaragua and France.
