I want to join the military for about 4-6 years in service to my country but...?

I am having trouble convincing my parents. My family is upper middle class and they feel there are better opportunities out there for me. I disagree and want to join the military with their support. I heard of a book maybe called "A-Wall" or something that is very convincing. I want to convince my parents that joining the military is a worthy cause. Do you know of any books that could help convince them? Thanks!!!!

Ever consider going officer? You can still be a trigger-puller. Middle-class parents (like mine) for whatever reason feel better if their kid gets shot at with a gold bar instead of a chevron. Why? I don't know but it's the only reason my dad's going to let me join the military. If that doesn't work, try mentioning all the enlistment bonuses the army is dishing out. Or try telling them about all the awesome training that you can get in the service. Or try telling them that once you're out, the military will pay for your college education. Good Luck!

I dropped out of school at 17.....stay with me on this one!
I joined the Marines for 4 years, got my GED the minute I could take the test. Started my Force Recon training and before long was puled to become a Divisional Scout for the G-2 (Intelligence) of the 3rd Marine Div. Got out of the Marines as an E-5 and have the best memories I would never ever let go of. The marines changed my life for the better in every way. I went on to college and continue to take courses to improve myself.....something the Marines taught me.
No it's not for everyone...but then if it was easy..... everyone could do it!
