Life after navy separation? how much trouble am I in?

So i got into a fight when I was in the navy. Unfortunately I was sent home under "convenience of the government"---they said that I'm way too irritable---I thought i was going to go to war?? I wanted to be a corpsman!! They gave me an administrative separation,,,, for fighting a fight I didn't start. I was told that an entry level separation like this is not the end of the world--but I'm still terrified of what i might have just done to my future. I've heard random things here and there and even that I could apply for re-enlistment in 6 months, but I just don't know anymore. Can anyone tell me straight up how screwed I am?

Im assuming this happened in boot camp??? Wel. your not totally screwed. It is possible that you may re-apply in six months time. But your life is far from over. You can do anything you want with yourself, you dont need the navy to have a good life. Make the best out of your situation and try to get yourself in school and get a good job. Check back with your recruiter and also army and marine corps recruiters. Explain the situation, plead for forgiveness and hope that they will be able to swing some kind of deal for you.

I don't know the answer to your question, but you don't need to be in the Navy to have a good life.

In fact you have a better chance of having a good life if you DON'T re-enlist, and realize that this separation is for the best, and its good that it happened before you could be deployed and sent overseas to fight in Iraq, and get killed or seriously wounded.

It's NOT worth it! Be thankful you got released before something really horrible and irrevocable (like getting killed, or losing a limb or something) happened.

You can still make a great life without the dangers of the Navy.

Go back to school and get a degree. If you don't have enough money for college, look into financial aid, scholarships, loans and work-study programs.

Then when you get a degree, you can start your career.

Good Luck!

Is that really the full story? Being in a fight isn't usually grounds for separation... An Article 15 maybe but not separation.

In any case, there should be a 'Reentry Code' on your DD-214. See what that is and look it up.

Actually now that I think about it - entry level separation at the convenience of the government and you probably won't even get a DD-214... not sure what to tell you.

Well, just move to the left coast where your separation from the Army will be heralded as a great accomplishment.
