If you are thinking about joining ANY service, I say "Go for it!" You'll meet really neat people, and some not so neat people, but I think it's a great experience.

I didn't join the Navy, so I can't tell you about their boot camp, except try not to go to Great Lakes in the middle of winter. Do they even train women there? I don't know.

Good luck, lady.

Military service is very worthwhile and personally fulfilling. i encourage you to speak with your local recruiter to get details. The United States Navy is a great place to pursue a career in many fields that may interest you. Boot camp is not "hard". Dont confuse that with challenging though. Mentally you will be pressed and physically as well (though not as much as marines and army). If you do go, go late spring/early summer. You DO NOT want to be in Northern Chicago in winter, trust me. You should expect to be expected to perform at your highest level, be a good team individual (oxymoron?), be reliable and many other things. And although I encourage all women to serve, I think that they serve best in the Air Force, then the Navy. Check all the branches out and see what they have to offer. Best of luck, and aswe say in the Navy, Fair winds and following seas!
