How many disabled veterans are living in poverty in the US?

Not a single day passes where I don't receive a heartfelt email begging us to pray for and support our troops. I have recently found that many of the same people who send those emails to me are also sending separate emails complaining about the probability, if a Democrat is elected to the office of President, of higher taxes for the top 1% of earners - taxes that among other things, would help improve training and equipment for those troops actively serving as well as to fund care for our sick and disabled vets. So I am wondering, where can I get an accurate estimate of how many disabled veterans are currently living in poverty?

I think I heard on talk radio that there's 300,000 ex vets living in poverty. Nice way to take care of our defenders.

All through history, nations have discarded their veterans when they were done using them. America has been no different. There was a brief episode of veterans being treated well, in the aftermath of the Second World War, inspired by the policies of FDR, who flag worshiping neo-cons are vilifying these days.

Now it is back to business as usual.

Thumbs up Re: How many disabled veterans are living in poverty in the US?

Well define poverty? then define Homelessness? There are plenty of statistics, a lot of which are already posted in the forums here as to how many Veterans are homeless and how more and more Iraqi veterans are joing those ranks. You don't get rich joining the military and you sure don't get rich living on what the VA gives you for disability payments. I think it's a "National Shame". Rad through the forums here or do a search on here and I think you will be amazed as to just how many Veterans have been dealt a bad hand.
