Thumbs up Battle to the Death

Exclusive: Battle to the Death

In a stunning display of fear (for the loss of their own sound bites), the Senate yesterday ignominiously voted to surrender to a ruthless enemy of the United States. FSM Contributing Editor Mark Taylor apologizes to the many – our military, Iraqis, America and more - who will be so negatively impacted by this disgraceful act.
Battle to the Death
By Mark R. Taylor

I drove across Indiana today, stunned. The United States Senate has just voted to surrender to a vicious, deadly and implacable American enemy, determined to destroy our country and our way of life.

To the good people of Iraq , I am truly sorry. You see, the average American is not a coward. So many of us volunteered to go to Iraq as soldiers, sailors, airman and Marines. We went as American contractors. We drove trucks, provided security, trained Iraqi police officers and soldiers – sharing our experience and knowledge. We protected your country and all our lives. I’ve had the pleasure of meeting so many of you. You are like us – you want to provide for your families and have a safe place to live free of terrorism funded and supplied by Iran , Syria and others. You want to be free, and our US Senate, I am afraid, has just signed your death warrant.

To the courageous men and women of our Armed Forces, I am truly sorry. You are the best on earth, the brightest of any fighting force we have had, and the most heroic group with whom I’ve had the opportunity to be a compatriot and to fight off common foes. So many of you have given your lives for the mission. So many of you have come home wounded. For what? Ours was and still is a noble, necessary mission and we must not allow the poltroons in Congress to feed upon their own timidity and blood thirst for political gain at the risk of your very lives.

To the American people, I must ask: how did we elect such a self-serving, craven conglomeration of liars to be our “leaders”? They approved this mission. They know it must be fought and won in the Middle East . Yet, now as former Dead-heads like Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Harry Reid (D-NV) are in power, they are destroying our morale and our country before our very eyes. They know this enemy has been lying in wait for this vote. It is a vote of confidence for al Qaeda and a lack of confidence in our sons, daughters, husbands and fathers serving honorably in the Armed Forces.

When the attacks come again to our soil, it will make September 11 look like child’s play. The Islamist fascists care not if you are Democrat or Republican, if you are black, white, male or female, Christian, Jew or Muslim. They care only about death and destruction: ours.

To the barbaric terrorists who killed and wounded my friends in Iraq – you may have terrorized the politicians in Washington , but you must realize that the American spirit is alive and well. We do not back down. We will not back down. The cowardly actions in the Senate and the restrictions they put on our military are only temporary. They do not represent us, they only shame us, and anger us, into action.

It is my hope and prayer that President Bush vetoes this despicable white flag of surrender. This veto must be made. The Senate must not override the veto. To do so will result in a sea of blood and destruction unlike anything we have ever seen both in Iraq and around the world. We can fight this war the right way now – in the Middle East - or we can fight it later on the streets of the United States of America . Either way, this is a battle to the death.
