...military?????.......i've got keratoconus... i've had 20/20 vision most of my life up until about a year ago before my 18th birthday......since i was little i've wanted to serve in special forces....do i have a shot at being accepted even though i wear glasses????

If memory serves me, 20/40 is the minimum, but the military now pays for corrective laser surgery, so you have that option.

Yes, that won't be a problem the your vision has to be 20/70 or better lower the number the better. My vision is 20/30 I wear glasses & i'm going into combat control training soon.

It really depends on your physical, most ops groups will require no glasses worn and some may let you get by with contacts. Talk to your recruiter when you get that far. Being Force Recon USMC I can say they didn't allow it years ago.

thats a good question.. im not up to date with the guidelines about it and i know very little about keratoconus but what im thinking is that as long as it is correctable you should be fine.. your best bet would be to get with a recruiter and ask them because they can find out for you.. i know the glasses shouldnt hold you back but the disease might.. but like i said i dont know about it too much..if anything you might just need a waiver from your doctor saying you are fine
