QueenT has a spectacular aura about
If your son wanted to join the military....?

would you feel you've failed as a parent?
@ Dina: I post a reasonable question and you call me ignorant? I'd feel I would've failed if my son wanted to make a living out of murdering for the sake of power. Try accepting a view different to your own.
@ mcdannel... no, it's "free" because some people are willing to TAKE LIFE for their own gain.
@ The Goalkeeper: Lol! Right with you there.
To all those people saying I'm ignorant: if half your family had died in military service you might oppose war too. I have every right to an informed opinion.
It's funny how a lot of the military people have resorted to insults, despite saying how peaceful and disciplined they are.
@ Smoker: isn't that what the military is supposed to have fought for? freedom of speech?
@ mcdannel: people have killed for America's freedom! does the end justify the means? I don't think so.
@ tammer: I know you didn't. Good answer.
@ tammer: ok now you've resorted to insults. see what I mean?
@ Smoker: I was responding to "you have every right to an informed opinion? where does it say that....?" well we live in a democracy, don't we? I don't support the military, never have, never will. That's my informed opinion.
@ tammer: i agree, i'm pro-life and i'm against abortion as well as war... but one isn't better than the other. they both take life. your answer made a lot of sense actually! it's just that some people took my question the wrong way from the start.
@ Robin: there are always better ways to solve problems than war.
@ Robin: well in the case of hitler, if we'd reacted sooner we could have taken him out of government before he built up an army. and if we promote peace, less people will want to start wars in the first place.
@ Army Wife: aww i'm sure that's not true.

@ Monkey Jones: encouraging him is going a bit too far.

Why would I? Rasing a son who's willing to serve others (not just himself),wants to be part of a bigger organization than the local high school, who sees the bigger picture of the world, has compassion and a sense of justice, is proud to be an American and willing to serve his country is success in my book not failure.

apparently the right answer to this question is, yes-if my son joined i would think that i failed as a parent. that being said, my 17 year old son just enlisted in the air force for 6 years, and i couldn't be prouder of him. you and your liberal ideas can kiss my butt on both cheeks. at least he isn't a tree-hugging, commie rat liberal, which apparently you are.
