Are you an expert at veteran's benefits?

I have a 72 yo friend who has not received any benefits from her deceased husband who was a vet and died years ago. Her son said they received mail indicating that they (the VA) are processing their information. However, that has been over a year ago.

My friend goes to the hospital and has just come home from rehab. I know that she is need of all the resurces she can get.
She has paid $300 for ambulance transportation home.

Please help me help them.
