JAMES C has a spectacular aura about
There is a part of me that wants to join the military, that want to live that life

but I don't want to kill... I am a caring person and I am against the idea of war, but there is a big, growing part of me that wants to join the army, pay back my country. I have other talents a possibility of getting a full ride college soccer scholarship but there is a part of me that wants to join ROTC and be a leader in the army. The opportunities or many for me in the army because I will soon be trilangual and am already bilangual in French and English. I have time though. The question is I guess what do I do? I have a talent and love for music and soccer but still my desire to enlist is growing. please help...

Well, if you aren't willing to participate in the war then do not join. As an officer you will have the lives of many troops in your hands.

I've always heard that multilingualism is a skill too often unavailable in the US.

Keep up with that and maybe you'll be able to make whatever deal you want.

If you're "against the idea of war," you don't want to enlist. Even if you go to a non-combat MOS, there's still the possibility of being assigned someplace that would require you to pick up and use your rifle.

Your desire to serve in some way is admirable, but I'd really suggest finding an alternate route... perhaps the State Department?

i would say explore the soccer/multi-lingual side first, due to your apprehension to killing. if that doesnt work out, go to ocs and join that way. another way to serve is in foreign affairs, languages will be helpful
